Maayan Keren
Senior Director, North America, Tikkun Olam Makers (TOM)
Maayan Keren oversees TOM's activities in North America and globally, including university and school-based programs. In this role, she leads TOM's U.S. expansion, building partnerships with universities, rehabilitation centers, and makerspaces to bring the TOM methodology into clinical and community settings. She also develops and facilitates workshops on empathy and inclusive design, helping clinicians, engineers, and designers build the collaborative skills needed to co-create assistive technology solutions with the people who need them.
Before joining TOM Global, she served as Economic and Social Adviser at Israel's Permanent Mission to the UN, focusing on sustainability, innovation, and entrepreneurship. In her more distant past, she was the creative director and head fashion designer of a US-based women's wear company, work that grounds her ongoing focus on human-centered design and rapid prototyping. Maayan holds an MPA from Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs, a BA in Government (magna cum laude) from Reichman University, and an Associate Degree in Fashion Design from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale.
